Research and Planning: Drafts of Advert

The Drafts

The drafting process of my advert was essential because the comments helped me to produce the final product. I was able to insert the correct information and edit any images and colour. This enabled me to produce the final digipak product.

Draft 1

The good things:
  •  Like the typography
  • theme portrayed is relevant and clear
  • use of colour is good
What to improve:

  • Artist image and representation not clear
  • key information missing
  • Put 'download' ideas together
  • All ancillary needs to be consistent

Draft 2
The good things:
  • Image is abstract which causes a good artist representation.
  • Good consistency in terms of the use of conventions
  • Typography chosen well
What to improve:
  •  Explicit content looks like it is where you download it from
  • More 'Babylon' song so it is where you download it from
  • Can you make artist a little bigger to enhance her image?

For our final product, we needed to ensure that our advert match up with our other products hat o ensure to that there is a high level of consistency of my star and her image. We also had that my advert was clear involving all important information that was needed on the advert to show promotion of my artists new album and singles.

Research and Planning digipak: Draft of Digipak

The drafting process for my digipak insured that I received Constructive feedback to help me produce another draft until I have a final digipak product. It also helped me develop and change things on my drafts that could potentially make a big difference. From draft 1 to draft 2 there was a dramatic change because my artist was changed so as a group we had to make a whole new star image for our star.

Draft 1

The good things:

  • Nice colour scheme for all images
  • Inside image demonstrates good star image
What to improve:
  • Album name and artist name more clear
  • Back missing key info
  • Inside CD a bit odd looking
  • All ancillary to be consistent

Draft 2
The good things:
Good consistency in images and conventions
Good consistency to advert idea
Like the way the tracks are written

What to improve:

Give inside image the same effect as front cover.
Front cover looks like a pink effect and the back looks blue.
Back missing production details
Look to do something more basic with CD insert, a bit of an artist overload at the minute.

For our final product, we needed to ensure that our digipack was conventional to the Hip hop/soul genre and still expressing our stars creativity and image. Our digipak has to be consistent with our advert so that all our products can be finalised as a whole product.

A final advert

Final Product: Digipak

A final video: Babylon by Sinead and Lorenzo

Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

The demographics of my audience:

  • Race: Mainly black but all
  • Gender: Female mostly
  • Age: 16-20+
  • Hobbies and interests: party, play sports,in school, enjoy their youth

1)Discuss how during the initial planning stages you carried out a questionnaire.
Why did you create this?

I created a questionnaire to gain information from our target audience and their preferences and dislikes in order to create my music video.

Here are some of the questions I included.
  • What themes in hip hop music videos do you like?
  • Who's your favourite hip hop/ soul artist?
  • How do you think females and males should be presented in a hip hop music video?
  • What setting would you like to see a hip hop video?
This helped me make decisions because I was able to involve all the themes that my genre included in music videos, representations of different characters and settings. This was good for me and my group because we know we were pleasing our audiences demands.

2)The importance of receiving critical feedback once the production has been made. Discuss this.

Receiving feedback for my final music video helped me and my group evaluate what went well and what could of been done in a more different and effective way. with these comments I can evaluate weather my music video was a success or not.

Why did you put your work on YouTube?
I put my music video on YouTube so that I could get the same reception that a professional music video would get when on YouTube. I was able to get good and bad critical feedback that would of let us know weather we achieved our aims with our music video.
