Research: Genre conventions and analysing digipaks

What is a digipak?
Print material that a company uses for promotional purposes such as a new album.

The purpose of a digipak?
  • Helps promote an artists new album
  • Allows the audience to gain an understanding of the artist and their product.
  • What genre they are expecting
What other elements does a digipak contain?
  •  Barcode
  • Song list
  • Artists name
  • Album name
  • Production company name
  • parental advisory

  • Colours: There is one colour that this dig pack design that I think looks really effective.
  • Lighting: Most of the lighting is on the face of the artist to glamorise her.
  • Title of album: The title is LP1, it is really small and unnoticeable because the main focus should be on the star.
  • Typography: There is not much to say on the typography as there is not much writing on the cover. The writing is small and can hardly be seen.
  • Layout: very simple layout
  • Artist/characters: The artist has been computerised to look like a plastic doll this is really effective.

  • Colours: Brown/summer type colours
  • Lighting: Bright lighting exposing one side of her face creating a shadow effect.
  • Title of album: 10 seconds
  • Typography: Simple style of typography
  • Layout: The artist is the main image on the album with the name and title at the top of the album so its obvious who and what it is.
  • Artist/characters: Artist looks vulnerable from the photo as she looks down.

  • Research: Creative brief for digipack
